Why blaming Judaism for Zionism is stupid [a parable]
Same reason why blaming Islam for ISIS/al-Qaeda/HTS is retarded.
Once upon a time, there was a cat in a great city who was trying to live in healthy prosperity. Unfortunately, fleas and ticks kept parasitically latching onto the cat, thriving by leeching from its body to multiply itself; eventually the parasites spread throughout the great city.
Naturally, to fix the problem, most people initially thought, obviously treat the cat as separate from the parasitical fleas and ticks, and just attack the parasites. For any sane person, it was understood that anti-parasitism is not anti-felinism! But lo and behold, one political faction emerged blaming the cat for the parasites, insisting that the cat was responsible for the parasites latching onto it to feed off of and multiply! That group insisted that if the cat didn’t exist to begin with, there would be no host for the parasites to thrive off of, and therefore the cat’s existence was the root cause of the parasites. They offered as their solution to euthanize the cat—who did nothing wrong—as the only way to end the parasite problem.
The fleas and ticks set up a counter-propaganda campaign, likewise promoting the very same false conflation between themselves and the cat, by insisting that all attacks on their parasitical existence were attacks on the cat itself. They retorted that all efforts to remove the fleas and ticks were “code words” for euthanizing the cat, and that all campaigns to destroy fleas and ticks were inherently “antifelinistic.” Eventually, anyone who wished to destroy the fleas and ticks by treating them as a separate problem from the cat’s existence, were marginalized from the debate as it became consumed by those two factions who argued from opposite sides of the same coin, both conflating the cat and fleas/ticks as one unity, even though the fleas/ticks obviously were not part of the cat nor aligned with its interests, and instead only in duplicity “supporting” the cat’s existence to have a host to leech off of.
Eventually, the fleas and ticks finished their job of parasitically eating apart the cat’s body to multiply and exponentiate as never before, brutally killing the cat entirely in the process and spreading throughout the great city, plaguing all its human inhabitants. The majority of people, having by then duped into believing that the cat was fundamentally responsible for the parasites hijacking its body, insisted that they themselves did nothing wrong in refusing to combat the parasites directly, only doubling down that they should’ve euthanized the cat sooner so the parasites had no host to multiply from! But alas, that blameshifting made no difference at that point—they too ached from the parasites into their agonizing hastened deaths never to be remembered again.

The parable works really well here. What strikes me most is how both sides end up reinforcing the same false conflation for their own purposes. The parasites claim any attack on them is an attck on the host, while their opponents blame the host for the parasites. Meanwhile, the actual problem never gets adressed because everyone's arguing within a flawed framework.
A very good metaphor! Thank You!
